Casilli Nominated as Finalist in IFCS-EFTF 2023 Best Student Paper Competition
On May 17, electrical engineering student Nicolas Casilli, E’21, MS’21, PhD’26, will present his paper “An Ising Tag with a LiNbO3 Resonator for Temperature Threshold Sensing” at the Joint Conference of the IEEE International Frequency Control Symposium and the European Frequency and Time Forum (IEEE IFCS-EFTF 2023).
Nicolas’s oral presentation has been converted into a 30 mins invited speaker talk in the “Piezoelectric MEMS/NEMS resonator Session”, and Nicolas is a finalist of the best student paper competition.
In his talk, Nicolas will show how leveraging MEMS resonators and the nonlinear dynamics of parametric circuits allows to realize RF passive sensor tags reconstructing the dynamics of Ising spins to implement a reliable wireless threshold sensing functionality without requiring a battery. Nicolas is advised by ECE Assistant Professor Cristian Cassella.
