Horsley and Rinaldi Receive Global Network Accelerator Award

ECE Professors David Horsley and Matteo Rinaldi received the 2024 Northeastern University Global Network Accelerator Award, which recognizes the contributions of faculty who continue to push the advancement of experiential learning and discovery beyond the boundaries of place. This award celebrates faculty whose research and teaching span disciplines, colleges, campuses, countries, and industry sectors, connecting diverse communities of problem-solvers to create measurable change. Award winners exhibit the very best of Northeastern’s mission to activate the global university system’s experience and expertise to solve the greatest challenges of today.

Rinaldi, a professor of electrical and computer Engineering and director of the Institute for NanoSystems Innovation, is a recognized pioneer in nanomaterials and their applications in energy and environmental technology. His research on nanoscale materials for sustainable energy solutions has fostered international collaborations, and has been instrumental in addressing global energy challenges. Rinaldi’s leadership in creating a global network of research and innovation has significantly contributed to the electrical and computer engineering field.

Horsley, a professor of electrical and computer engineering in Oakland, California and deputy Ddrector of the Institute for NanoSystems Innovation, has made groundbreaking contributions to the development of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS). His innovations in sensor technology include applications ranging from healthcare to aerospace, showcasing the global impact of his research. Horsley’s collaborative projects with international partners have set new standards for cross-disciplinary research and technology transfer.
