Northeastern Partners in Major Grant to Advance Trusted Microelectronics

ECE Associate Professor Xiaolin Xu, in addition to Worcester Polytechnic Institute, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and Synopsys Inc., is collaborating on a new multi-institutional project funded through the Massachusetts SCALE Capital Program. Their project, “SAIL: Securing AI Chips and Intelligent Design Automation for Trusted Hardware,” is led by Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) and received a $236,226 grant to acquire key capital equipment. The SCALE Capital Program, managed by the Northeast Microelectronics Coalition (NEMC) Hub, is a state investment that supports the goals of the federal CHIPS and Science Act to strengthen U.S. technology leadership.
