Outstanding Graduate Student Award in Research

Congratulations to computer engineering PhD student Meenupriya Swaminathan for receiving the Outstanding Graduate Student Award for Research by the Graduate Student Council (GSG) and the Office of the Provost.

Meenupriya’s advisor believes that her groundbreaking research into intrabody implants, which could wirelessly transmit medical data to external caregivers and activate drug delivery systems, has the potential to revolutionize the healthcare industry. She is leading a National Science Foundation project on the technology, and has been recognized on national and international levels, including a 2016 award from the National Center for Women & Information Technology that honors the outstanding technical accomplishments of female college students. Mentors say her impressive mentoring, leadership, and communication skills will serve her well in a research-focused career.
