The Northeastern University SMART Center Deploys an Evatec CLUSTERLINE® 200 for Manufacturing High Performance Piezoelectric Micro and Nano Systems
The Northeastern University SMART Center added the Evatec’s CLUSTERLINE® 200 to its nanofabrication capability. This is the first Evatec’s CLUSTERLINE® 200 tool deployed in an academic institution in the United States providing the SMART Center with a unique cutting-edge capability to perform research, development and pilot manufacturing of high-performance piezoelectric micro and nano systems.

Best Paper Award at IEEE HPEC 2020
Computer engineering PhD student Mahsa Bayati (PhD’20), ECE Professor Miriam Leeser, Associate Professor Ningfang Mi were awarded the Outstanding Student Paper Award for their paper “Exploiting GPU Direct Access to Non-Volatile Memory to Accelerate Big Data Processing” at the 2020 IEEE High Performance Extreme Computing Conference (HPEC).

Northeastern Receives NSF-JST Planning Grant in Support of Super-Aging Societies
Northeastern researchers comprised of Taskin Padir (ECE), Deniz Erdogmus (ECE), Misha Pavel (Khoury, BCHS), and Carmen Sceppa (BCHS) received a planning grant from the NSF-JST Smart and Connected Communities program to focus on team-building, user-centered design ideation, and community participation activities to develop a tight and sustainable collaboration among U.S.-Japan researchers

ECE Team won First Place in ISLPED 2020 Design Contest
ECE Assistant Professors Yanzhi Wang and Xue Lin and their graduate students were part of a collaborative Northeastern University and College of William and Mary team that won first place at the design contest at ISLPED 2020 for their demonstration titled, “CoCoPIE: A Framework of Compression-Compilation Co-design Towards Ultra-High Energy Efficiency and Real Time DNN Inference on Mobile Devices.”
