ECE PhDs Win Best Student Paper Award at PETRA 2019
ECE PhD students Mo Han, PhD’22, Yagmur Gunay, PhD’21, and Ilkay Yildiz, PhD’22, received the best student paper award at PETRA 2019, which took place in Rhodes, Greece, for their paper “From Hand-perspective Visual Information to Grasp Type Probabilities: Deep Learning via Ranking Labels”.

Lin to Lead $1.2M Grant to Reduce DNN Computation and Storage Requirements
ECE Assistant Professor Xue (Shelley) Lin will lead a $1.2M NSF grant, in collaboration with ECE Professor Miriam Leeser and Massoud Pedram from the University of Southern California, on developing “A Unified Software/Hardware Framework of DNN Computation and Storage Reduction Using ADMM”.

Our ECE PhD candidate Caiwen Ding (advisor Prof. Yanzhi Wang) has accepted the offer as an Assistant Professor in Department of Computer Science and Engineering at University of Connecticut, starting Fall 2019. He works on hardware acceleration of deep learning algorithms, deep learning applications, cyber-physical systems, etc.
