COE Research Expo Displays Promising Work of PhD Students
The College of Engineering held a research expo to highlight the work of PhD students. Participants presented their research to a panel of judges and gained critical presentation and communication skills. They also displayed their research during the poster showcase and students were recognized with awards.

Research on “parametric frequency divider based Ising machines” conducted by Nicolas Casilli, E’21, MS’21, PhD’26, electrical engineering, in Associate Professor Cristian Cassella’s lab, was accepted for publication in Physical Review Letters.

2024 Goldwater Scholarship Nominees
Maya De Los Santos, electrical and computer engineering, Kaitlyn Ramesh, bioengineering, and Madeline Szoo, chemical engineering and biochemistry, were nominated for the 2024 Barry Goldwater Scholarship—a highly competitive, merit-based award for outstanding students in mathematics, the natural sciences, and engineering who are interested in pursuing careers in research.

Northeastern Students Develop Robotic Boat to Attack Invasive Plants
A capstone project supervised by ECE Associate Professor Charles DiMarzio and MIE Associate Professor Randall Erb that developed an autonomous robotic boat to map the invasive hydrilla plant has been featured in The Robot Report, Hartford Courant, BNN Breaking, and Government Technology.
